Munnar – a beautiful hill station in Kerala…
Munnar is one of the best hill stations in India which is located in the state of Kerala, popularly known as “God’s own country”. Munnar is situated at an altitude which ranges from 6500 ft to 8500 ft above sea level in Idukki district, which was the favored summer resort of the erstwhile British rulers in the colonial days.
Munnar, the name, has been derived from two Malayalam words – ‘Munu’ which means three and ‘aaru’ meaning river, as it is located at the convergence of three rivers – Muthirappuzha, Nallathanni and Kundaly. Tourist Season: August to May
Though if you are planning to visit Munnar for your Honeymoon, then the best time to visit is from November to February. During this season, the climate will be really good and cold otherwise you may find it quite humid.

How to get there:
There is no airport in Munnar as of now while the nearest airport is the Cochin International Airport, which is 110 kilometers away by road. There are various private cab facilities available from Cochin to Munnar. From Munnar, Madurai international airport is 140 kilometers away from where you can avail taxi to Munnar.
The closes railways station to Munnar is Aluva which is 112 kilometers away. Another railway station, named, the Ernakulam Railway Station, is 130 kilometers away while the Madurai Railway Station is at a distance of 135 kilometers. So anyone coming by train can get down at one of these railway stations and can hire cab to Munnar.
There are various state-run or private buses, running from various towns in Kerala to Tamil Nadu, are the best way to get to Munnar by road. One can get any Kerala State Road Transport Corporation bus services to Munnar from all major cities in Kerala.
